Contents

Teacher Eligibility Test (TET) is an Indian entrance examination for teachers. The test is mandatory for getting teaching jobs in government schools from Class 1 to Class 8. Paper 1 is meant for teachers opting for Class 1 to Class 5 and Paper 2 for Class 6 to Class 8. It is conducted by both the Central government and State governments in India.

UPTET Exam Pattern

What is the UPTET Exam Pattern for Paper-I?

Paper I (Primary Level): Class I-V

Qualification: Passed Graduation degree with a minimum of 50% marks with 2 years diploma in special education (D.Ed) OR BTC training from UP OR 4-year diploma in elementary education.

What is the UPTET Exam Pattern for Paper 1?

Paper-II (Upper Primary Level): Class VI-VIII.

Qualification: Passed Graduation degree with a minimum of 50% marks with a one-year degree in elementary education (B.EL.ED) OR BTC training from UP OR 2 years programmes in BTC.

UPTET Paper-I Syllabus (for Class-I to V) Primary Classes:

UPTET primary paper 1 test consists of 5 sections carrying 30 questions and 30 marks each. So the total marks for the exam are 150. These sections and their syllabus is given below.

UPTET Marking Scheme

Uttar Pradesh Basic Education Board (UPBEB) has given the UPTET marking scheme for both papers I & II. Both the papers are 150 marks, where each question carries 1 mark. There will be no negative marking. Check the table below to know the detailed marking scheme of UPTET.

UPTET Exam Time Duration

As per the UPTET exam pattern, there are two papers in the UPTET exam 2022. The total duration of the UPTET exam will be 2 hours and 30 minutes. Paper 1 will begin at 10 am and conclude at 12:30 pm and paper 2 will be conducted from 2:30 pm to 5 pm.

There are 4 sections in UPTET Paper 2 for the aspirants for upper primary teaching posts (class VI to VIII). Section 4 has two parts, A and B. Part-A contains two subjects, mathematics, and science whereas Part B has only social studies/social science. There are 3 main sub-parts of Part-B history, geography, social & political life as given in the UPTET syllabus. The subjects/sections of Paper 2 are given in the table.

Is there any negative marking in UPTET?

There are no negative marking criteria in the UPTET exam.

Which subjects are included in the UPTET syllabus for Paper 2?

There are 4 sections but 8 subjects with an option to choose any four of 8. For science stream candidates the subjects are child development & pedagogy, language-I & II, math & science whereas for arts stream candidates instead of math & science there are social studies.

How many papers are there in UPTET?

There are two papers in the UPTET exam, Paper 1 and Paper 2. Paper 1 is for those candidates who want to teach in primary school (class 1 to 5) and Paper 2 is for upper primary school (class 6 to 8).
