The Agricultural Scientists Recruitment Board (ASRB) Assistant Exam Pattern: In this Exam there are Two Paper. Paper I is an Objective type Online Exam and Paper II is a Descriptive Type. All sections of the Question Paper for the Preliminary Examination will be set both in English and Hindi except the section on English Comprehension. the Preliminary Examination will be held Online pattern.

Marking System: One mark will be deducted for two wrong answers.
NOTE: The final merit list shall be prepared based upon the marks obtained in the Main Examination viz. out of 200 marks for the General as well as in respect of all other reserved categories (viz. SC/ST/OBC/PH/EXs).

Syllabus for Preliminary On-Line Examination :
Paper-I :
- English Comprehension: Candidates’ ability to understand correct English, their basic comprehension and writing ability, etc. would be tested.
- General Knowledge: Questions in this component will be aimed at testing the candidate’s general awareness of the environment around him and its application to society. Questions will also be designed to test knowledge of current events and of such matters of everyday observation and experience in their scientific aspects as may be expected from an educated person. The test will also include questions relating to India and its neighboring countries especially pertaining to history, culture, geography, economic scene, general policy, scientific research, etc. These questions will be such that they do not require a special study of any discipline.
- General Mental Ability: It would include questions of both verbal and non-verbal types. This component will include questions of analogies, similarities, and differences, spatial visualization, spatial orientation, problem-solving, analysis, judgment, decision making, visual memory, discrimination, observation, relationship concepts, arithmetic reasoning, verbal and figure classification, arithmetical number series, non-verbal series, coding and decoding statement, conclusion, syllogistic reasoning, etc.
- Quantitative Analysis including Arithmetic: The questions will be designed to test the ability of appropriate use of numbers and the number sense of the candidate. The part will include questions on problems relating to number system, computation of whole numbers, decimals and fractions, relationships between numbers, fundamental arithmetical operations, percentage, ratio and proportion, average, interest, profit and loss, discount, use of tables and graphs, mensuration time and distance ratio and time, etc.
Syllabus for Main Examination :
Section – A
- Essay / Paragraphs: The candidate’s ability to understand correct English / Hindi, his / her comprehension and writing ability, etc. would be tested. Questions on short essays, precise, letter writing, etc. would also be included.
Section – B
- English Language & Comprehension (Conventional type) : In addition to the testing of candidates understanding of the English language and its correct usage, his/her writing ability would also be tested. Questions on paragraph writing / report writing etc. may be included.
Section – C
General Knowledge : Questions in this paper will include General Awareness as well as General Intelligence and reasoning ability.
- General Intelligence and Reasoning Ability : It would include question of both – vernal non-verbal type. This component will include questions on analogies, similarities, differences, spatial visualization, spatial orientation, problem solving analysis, judgment, decision making, visual memory, discrimination, observation, relationship concepts, arithmetical reasoning, verbal and figure classification, arithmetical number series, non-verbal series, coding and decoding, statement conclusion, syllogistic reasoning etc.
- General Awareness : Questions in this component will be aimed at testing the candidate’s general awareness of the environment around him and its application to society. Questions will also be designed to test knowledge of current events and of such matters of everyday observation and experience in their scientific aspects as may be expected of any educated person. The test will also include questions relating to India and its neighbouring countries, especially pertaining to sports, history, culture, geography, economic scene, general polity, Indian constitution and scientific research etc. These questions will be such that they do not require a special study of any discipline.
Section – D
- Quantitative Analysis and General Mental Ability including Basic Arithmetic : The questions will be designed to test the ability of appropriate use of numbers and number sense of the candidate. This paper will include questions on problems relating to number system, computation of whole numbers, decimals and fractions, relationships between numbers, fundamental arithmetical operations, percentage, ratio and proportion, average, interest, profit and loss, discount use of tables and graphs, mensuration, time and distance, ratio and time etc.
Eligibility Criteria :
The candidate must be a Graduate of a recognized University. The candidates must possess an original or provisional Bachelor’s Degree and for that the crucial cut-off.
